Academy Rules

Horses are not judged in Academy classes.

All Academy horses must be used in a lesson program.

All breeds allowed, as long as they display the characteristics of a lesson horse.

All horses must be flat/keg shod - no pads allowed.

No hoof blacking or braiding.

Horses may be shown in snaffle bridles with martingales. Pelham and curb type bits are allowed at the discretion of the instructor - please use caution and common sense when bitting and mounting horses for beginners.

Academy riders must not have shown in a full suit before.

Acceptable attire is jods, dress shirt & tie, vest & boots. Helmets are encouraged, but not required.

Once a rider has shown in walk/trot/canter classes, a return to Walk & Trot classes is prohibited. Riders may not show in Walk/Trot/Canter and Walk/Trot classes at the same show.
